Ingenio Palo Gordo, S.A.
About the Company
Palo Gordo, a 17-caballería estate located in Guatemala, Central America, was acquired in 1929 by the Central American Plantations Corporation (CAPCO). It began growing sugarcane there and installed a mill to grind 1,000 tons of cane daily, which began operations in 1930. It was acquired by the State of Guatemala and was managed by the Department of National and Intervened Rural Estates.
Through its continuous improvement process, IPG exceeded its expectations in sugar production to 2,773,000 tqq, even increasing premium alcohol production by 40%, achieving a record production of 12,000,000 lts. This comprehensive improvement was achieved in the departments that are the driving force behind IPG's challenges.
